Testimonials
What Instructors Are Saying:

“The current educational crisis of budget cuts and staffing shortages increases the inconsistency of student’s lab experiences. With the BioLab3 system, ALL of my students are receiving the same high quality lab experiences EVERY time."

A. Bridges, Biology Instructor, Dallas College

“In the photosynthesis lab I can teach concepts of the effect of different wavelengths of light on photosynthesis and separating plant pigments more effectively using digital imagery than I can in the live lab.”

R. Malone, Biology Instructor, Dallas College

"This program was developed with two assumptions: 1) The online students must complete the same laboratory activities as students taking the course on campus and, 2) online students are evaluated using the same quizzes and lab practicals as students doing the labs on campus. The wonderful videos and still images enable students to do everything but touch it."

P. Shelp, Biology Instructor, Dallas College

“In today’s world where technology plays a lead role, this on-line program draws the attention of students. On-line students are able to access these lessons whenever and wherever and as many times as needed. Social media, educational applications and electronic communication are used to enhance interaction between the student and the instructor.”

S. Murali, Biology Instructor, Dallas College

“The Cell Respiration lab features a gerbil that immediately captures the students’ attention and provides clear step by step instructions that helps the students know how to do the math for their own data - it seems more 'real' to them when they see the process of recording the data than I could ever make it just writing the numbers up on the board.”

I. Halsey, Dallas College

"I use the images and videos from biolabmanual.com to supplement my traditional lab class. My students appear to be more engaged and retain more of the material when they are able to see what they will be doing prior to actually performing the lab exercises. For instance, the photosynthesis video that shows bubbles of oxygen being released from the plant cell is amazing, and after watching that EVERYONE looks for bubbles!"

C. Ambler-Biles, Biology Instructor, Dallas College

 A Few Student Comments:

  • This is what online learners have been waiting for. It looks just like you’re in front the professor or other students demonstrating the whole process. This will increase our interest in Biology.

  • As a distance learning student, I feel it is important to have as much visual/audio interaction as possible involved in the learning process.  It is possible to learn just by reading and looking at slides, but since there are so many different learning styles, I feel that this lab is more diverse and can therefore serve students more efficiently.

  • The video demonstrations made it so much better to understand the steps and process of the experiments when actually seeing the process take place instead of looking at a series of pictures. It made it feel like I was more involved in the lab instead of leaving it up to my imagination.

  • I really enjoy learning the lesson this way, much more fun, and helped me to understand the concepts a lot better.

  • I really like the adaptive release questions at the end of each section.  This check for understanding is very helpful!

  • The interactive lessons are great. They help you to tie everything together and really understand what you’re learning.

  • I like the interactive part where you roll the mouse over slides to refresh your memory on what is negative or positive. I also really like the video of what is going on with the microscope and what you should be seeing. It is more like a real lab.

  • These videos were breath taking. I like the way they filmed the tours for each cell. The audio and video go hand in hand; the narrator does a good job at explaining what goes on by pointing each part of the cell, and its function.

  • I really liked the interactive lessons as well as the videos. It really helps those who are visual learners and that is important because I think online classes are harder.

  • The adaptive release helped me to ensure I understood the subject and if I got something wrong, I was able to go back and review again.

  • The questions were my favorite part of these labs. Instead of a routine read and write lab, the adaptive questions brought everything home. Because of the questions, the student will be most likely to pay closer attention to the text and videos.
